Non-commercial Partnership for Development and Use of Navigation Technologies (GLONASS Union) was established on 21 May 2012 with the goal of development and adoption of GLONASS technology-based products and services in Russia and abroad.
GLONASS Union members are leading Russian companies in telecommunication, IT, and navigation markets: PJSC “VimpelCom”, PJSC “MegaFon“, PJSC “MTS”, PJSC “Rostelecom”, PJSC “Navigation Information Systems”, JSC “Summa Telecom”, Transas Group, Cesar Satellite Group, Yandex LLC, Association “GLONASS/GNSS Forum”, JSC “Control systems” and Federal state unitary enterprise “ZaschitaInfoTrans of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation”.
25 May 2012 – GLONASS Union is designated the Russian National Navigation Services Provider. 31December 2014 the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation signed an agreement on the implementation and maintenance of commercial operation of the "ERA-GLONASS" in 2015 with the federal network operator NP "GLONASS".
GLONASS Union and Skolkovo Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement at 22 April 2015. Joint efforts are aimed at Russian navigation market development and support of the Russian scientific organizations and manufacturing facilities.
Pursuant to the collaboration, GLONASS technopark will be created on the territory of the Skolkovo Innovation center in order to bring together specialized research and experimental organizations, as well as innovation companies, developing navigation and related technologies. GLONASS Union and Skolkovo together will select projects with high level of innovation and commercial perspective, and will facilitate them together as part of technopark project.
