Manohar Paluri is a research lead at Facebook AI Research and manages the Computer Vision team in Applied Machine Learning. His passion is to make machines see the way humans do. This starts with Computer Vision and as Computer Vision gets better and better over time touches components of Artificial Intelligence. An enormous amount of image and video content is made available online every minute, and artificial intelligence plays an important role in helping people navigate this content. Facebook is at the epicenter of building tools to connect people. To make this a reality we need to solve two fundamental problems, understanding content and understanding people. Facebook AI Research is pursuing various efforts to understand the semantics of the content. Computer Vision itself is a challenging domain and doing it at Facebook scale poses a unique set of challenges. In this talk I will describe various Computer Vision efforts happening at Facebook scale.
