The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) is excited to announce the launch of the Skoltech Innovation Program (SIP) call for proposals.

Developed from the Innovation Support Program, which was successfully launched in 2012, SIP is mostly focused on research projects carried at the Institute and its Centers for Research, Education and Innovation (CREIs). The Program also aims to contribute to the Russian innovation ecosystem development inviting the projects from the Skolkovo Foundation partner Universities and Institutes. The SIP will competitively award translational research funds for one year period to bridge the gap between laboratory and marketplace, and drive innovation and entrepreneurship in Russia.

Skoltech is a new private graduate university located just outside of Moscow, Russia. The university was established in 2011 in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Skoltech aims to advance education, scholarship and economic development in the Russian Federation and beyond by educating graduate students and conducting research programs that address key challenges in science, technology and innovation.

As key component of Skoltech, the CEI is dedicated to integration of innovative and entrepreneurial thinking and activities into the university’s education and research pathways through curricular and extracurricular programs as well as integration of commercialization and administrative services to support knowledge and technology transfer to the community.

The CEI’s SIP provides critical support for participating teams to help establish proof of concept and provide assistance with advancing their technology towards commercialization, including pre-start up identification of high potential market opportunities, intellectual property management, and, if appropriate, team development. The SIP will be funded by the Center and run in collaboration with MIT. Every team will receive help of “catalysts” – mentors who combine deep subject matter knowledge with business/industrial experience. Applicants are welcome to identify and suggest potential catalysts for the Program. CEI will also seek for the opportunities to strengthen project teams with highly motivated individuals representing Skoltech student community and MBA graduates.
