The Skolkovo Foundation will present the development project for its future Innocity at the MIPIM in Cannes. Visitors to the Skolkovo pavilion will see the designs of the buildings making up the fore of the new city – Technopark, University; “Plateau” multi-purpose public and commercial centre; the Sberbank complex, as well as the key buildings of the visitors’ area – “Kupola” (Domes) and “Skaly” (Rocks). The Skolkovo display is expected to be a remarkable event at the show.

The Skolkovo city-planning board will convene within the scope of MIPIM-2012 to discuss the smart town concept, which will serve as the foundation for the Skolkovo infrastructure. The pavilion will also play host to meetings with investors and real estate experts, seminars on construction and development practices and other important events. The visitors will hear from Russian and international architecture stars, including Kazuyo Sejima, Sergey Tchoban, Pierre de Meuron, Yuri Grigoryan, David Chipperfield and Stefano Boeri. The future Skolkovo innovation centre is a busy town with an appealing infrastructure. Just 20-minutes’ drive from the Kremlin, populated with young and active middle-class professionals, it is definitely an attractive destination for investors. The continuous scientific research conducted in Skolkovo guarantees sustainable development of business. Also appealing to investors is the state support for the project and plans of big companies to locate their own research centres in Skolkovo.

Viktor Vekselberg, Skolkovo Foundation President: “The city of Skolkovo is searching for architectural and infrastructure solutions of the day after tomorrow, rather than simply tomorrow. This is not an end in itself, though, but an instrument for creating an urban environment to facilitate innovation. The very idea of a population centre where the inhabitants are not permanent residents but stay in the city only for the period of their scientific and commercial project is an innovation in urban development and an attempt to look into the future.”

Viktor Maslakov, Skolkovo city manager: “The Skolkovo situation is unique, because there are no houses or streets yet, but there are already people living here – residents, staff of the Skolkovo Foundation partner companies. We would like those who familiarise themselves with our exposition to feel the atmosphere of the city, see its sights and test its services. This is important, because the future residents help create the infrastructure of the city and fill it with exciting events right now.”
