The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) is holding an Open Doors Day on Saturday, April 23 for anyone interested in attending lectures by Skoltech professors, talking to current students and finding out more about the university’s programmes, admissions procedures and research.

The day’s programme includes interactive presentations of the institute’s research centres, which are focused on subjects including photonics and quantum materials, energy systems and computational and data-intensive science.

Skoltech, a private graduate research university, was founded in 2011 in cooperation with Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It currently has about 300 students from all over the world studying space, biomedicine, energy, IT and advanced manufacturing programmes. All classes are taught in English by an international teaching staff.

Students are encouraged to launch their own startups, finding practical uses for their research, and some of those startups have gone on to become successful residents of the Skolkovo Foundation. Many of the students spend an academic term or year at MIT or other partner universities.

The university is currently accepting applications for master’s programmes beginning in late August 2016, and for PhD programmes on a rolling basis.

The event will run from noon until 6 p.m., and buses will run to Skoltech from Park Pobedy metro station from 11 a.m.
