Please read this article if you are concerned about wire transfers as a way to receive payments - checks are not widely used outside of the USA and are very expensive.

Please note that the "Nigerian banking scams" and similar schemes normally require people to go in person to the bank and sign a transfer. This removes the protections of electronic transfers (as discussed in the article).
