Skolkovo public 
spaces and innovation process

Concept: 2.5-day workshop will study plans for developing Skolkovo territory, city industries, social and organizational space and with a goal to make it fit for innovation process.

Format: several rounds of group assignments and general discussions of the results

Participants: Skolkovo architects and planners (to inform the discussion); active professionals who focus on the human dimension of the city, can analyze how different behaviors are formed, can develop solutions for motivating certain types of behavior (anthropologists, “soft” urbanists, designers and architects; professionals in psychology and behavior, social space of the cities, etc.).

The workshop seeks to provide answers to the following questions:

  1. People: What types of activities, behaviors, interactions, and societal configurations are conducive to innovation, and how can they be encouraged in Skolkovo?
  2. Design: How can we design Skolkovo city spaces and objects that stimulate and embody a vibrant innovation culture?
  3. Context: How can we take into account the sociotechnical, economic and climatic peculiarities of the Moscow region and Russia in general?
  4. Implementation: How can we operationalize these insights and anchor them effectively within the overall Skolkovo roadmap?
