Teaching Methodology

In the PYP (Primary Years Program) students begin studying from the age of 3 (youngest group in the Preschool) through the 4th grade. This ensures complete continuity between the Preschool and Primary Years programs.

The primary method of teaching and implementing the curriculum is through inquiry, during which our students will learn:

    • Independently formulate questions for themselves
    • Choose sources of information for the purpose (or subject) of research
    • Learn and analyze new information in order to draw their own conclusions
    • Set goals and strive to achieve them
    • Evaluate the results of their own work

Over the course of the year, the students conduct five transdisciplinary themes of inquiry:

    • “Who We Are”
    • “Where We Are In Place and Time”
    • “How We Organize Ourselves”
    • “How the World Works”
    • “How We Express Ourselves”
    • “The Earth — Our Common Home”

The curriculum that is taught through the units of inquiry is in accordance with academic standards of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the International Baccalaureate Organization.
