Methods of Teaching

The curriculum taught in the Preschool is the first phase of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP).

Despite the young age of our students, the primary method of teaching is inquiry-based learning. Over the course of the year, the students will attempt:

  • Formulate problematic questions for themselves
  • Choose sources of information relating to the theme of inquiry
  • Analyze the information and draw their own conclusions

Over the course of the year, the students conduct five transdisciplinary themes of inquiry:

  • “Who We Are”
  • “Where We Are In Place and Time”
  • “How We Organize Ourselves”
  • “How the World Works”
  • “How We Express Ourselves”
  • “The Earth — Our Common Home”

A significant amount of time is devoted to the children’s physical development:

  • Daily walks
  • Physical Education lessons and various activities outside

Individual Development Plan

Based on the observations of the speech therapist and class psychologist, an individual academic plan is written for each student, which aims to unify the efforts of every teacher in order to maximize our students' academic potential.

Learning Environment

Our learning environment is designed to stimulate and encourage:

  • To strive for knowledge and reach their full potential
  • To learn to think independently while developing the skills to work with others
  • To develop their ability to orally and visually communicate; stimulate their cognitive ability; and hone their motor skills
