The Skolkovo Foundation will take part in Slush, a major startup conference in Northern Europe and Russia that will be held in Helsinki on 13-14 November 2013. The aim of Slush, organized by Startup Sauna, is to bring together remarkable startups, mass media and international investors from Europe and the US.
This year Skolkovo will present several dozens of promising startups from IT, Energy, Biomed, Nuclear and Space clusters, which will have an opportunity to present their ideas and inventions, get inspiration from their colleagues and meet investors. For instance, 3D-tek startup will show its 3D screen created with a revolutionary technology of pixelless optical interpolation, which can be used on conventional projectors to watch any types of videos in quality that exceeds Ultra-high Definition. A Skoltech student will present his invention Dream Beamer – a piece of software that can be used to protect the eyes of a presenter in front of the projector; at the same time the entire body of a person is blacked out from the projected image and the position of a person is determined by a webcam.
The key managers of the Skolkovo Foundation will also take part in the conference, including Igor Bogachev, Executive Director of the IT Cluster, Pekka Viljakainen, Adviser to the President of the Skolkovo Foundation, Gelena Lifshits, Head of medical projects of the Biomed Cluster, Eduard Kanalosh, Head of Investment Office of the Skolkovo Foundation, and Oleg Syutin, VP for Development and International Relations.
The Skolkovo Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in September 2010 by the Russian government with an objective to accelerate transformation of Russia from a resource-intensive to an innovation-based economy. To achieve this objective the Foundation is overseeing the creation of the Skolkovo Innovation Center composed of companies and startups, developing innovative technologies (currently numbering over 950), a Technopark, the Skolkovo Institute of Technology (Skoltech), a new graduate research University established in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Skolkovo city, located near Moscow.
