15-16 November 2013 – Budapest, Hungary
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA/BUDAPEST, HUNGARY – Singularity University (SU), the acclaimed Silicon Valley university that uniquely focuses on the opportunities and challenges presented by the rapid growth of technologies, has announced the details of SUMMIT EUROPE - the first European Conference hosted by Singularity University, and the first major program of its kind aimed at educating executives on understanding and using exponential technologies.
SUMMIT EUROPE will be held in the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in downtown Budapest, Hungary, on 15-16 November 2013. Budapest was selected by SU because of its role as the host city of the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT) of the European Union. SUMMIT EUROPE will be followed by other regional SU Summits currently being planned in partnership with local partners in major cities around the world.
“Every aspect of life is being transformed by technology, and the idea of Silicon Valley has become a metaphor for the mindset of innovation and the power of ideas,” said Technologist and Futurist Ray Kurzweil, SU Co-Founder and Director of Engineering at Google. “How we learn to think exponentially rather than in a traditional linear fashion, changes our perception of life and approach to business. We need to understand the democratization of technological disruptions and celebrate non-orthodox thinking – the idea of ideas.”
For five years, Singularity University has prepared both individuals and organizations for exponential technology changes through a series of events, conferences and education programs. These experiences have facilitated a fundamental change in thinking to fully recognize and understand the broad implications of technology changes and more importantly, how the combined effects of these transitions will transform everything around us – and rapidly. SU SUMMIT EUROPE will tap into this expertise and show participants how to identify our greatest challenges, and capitalize on them as the biggest opportunities of the 21st century.
“It is very appropriate that we hold our first open-summit in Budapest, where the EU has established the EIT,” stated Dr. Peter H Diamandis, Co-founder of Singularity University and best-selling author of Abundance. “SUMMIT EUROPE will add a vibrant and important discussion of the role of disruptive technologies and their impact in developing nations and where new investments are waiting for capitalization. We will discuss how our world is increasingly being impacted and revolutionized by Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Digital Manufacturing and radical breakthroughs in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics.”
Singularity University programs provide the education, tools and thinking necessary to expand business and create new markets, as well as offer unique educational content and an innovation pipeline that helps to expand participants’ global networks to open new markets and new lines of business.
Skolkovo Foundation and Open University Skolkovo are partnering with SU Summit Europe to promote it in Russia and attract Russian leading start-up companies, leaders of the future and everyone, who wants to see the future of the technologies today, to take part in the Summit.
