The UAE’s new ambassador to the Russian Federation H.E. Dr. Mohammad Al-Jaber met with the chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation Arkady Dvorkovich during a visit to the innovation center on 17 November.

The two sides discussed current cooperation between the Skolkovo Foundation and a number of Emirati entities, how to further develop business relations, and several investment opportunities. Both agreed to exchange road maps on future cooperation in the investment sphere.

Mr. Dvorkovich also invited startups and SMEs from the UAE to explore the Russian market via the Skolkovo Softlanding program which provides foreign startups the necessary information and connections for successful market entry through the Skolkovo ecosystem.

The two sides also discussed the cooperation between the Skolkovo Foundation and Masdar city in Abu Dhabi, agreeing to create a direct channel for collaboration to promote initiatives of mutual interest. Masdar city was established in 2016 and, like the Skolkovo Innovation City, it shares the same objective of supporting the transformation from a resource-based economy to a knowledge economy.

The ambassador also brought up the necessity for cooperation in higher education and he and Mr. Dvorkovich have agreed to introduce the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology to the relevant UAE universities. Mr. Dvorkovich has invited the ambassador to take part in Skolkovo flagship events such as Startup Village and the Open Innovations Forum.

Also attending the meeting on the UAE side was the first secretary of the embassy, the head of the UAE Embassy’s Economic Department Ahmad Al Ketbi, and Mr. Idrees Kuriyshevich, a specialist at the Economic Department. Also attending on the Skolkovo side was the head for international cooperation at the Skolkovo International Department Mrs. Leena Abu Mukh Zoabi.
