Talking about other strengths of Skolkovo and its members, Mr. Dvorkovich mentioned the projects relating to various applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning. “This technological platform is developing quite fast,” he said. Quantum devices, photonics, energy-efficient technologies, such as small grids, are just some of the directions in which Skolkovo resident companies are rapidly moving ahead.

“Skolkovo research is also focusing on innovative solutions, in such traditional economic spheres as oil and gas recovery”.

Mr. Dvorkovich added that this sphere is of considerable interest to Peru, being the first country in South America to initiate the development of hydrocarbon projects.

Addressing his Peruvian colleagues, the Chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation spoke of the possibility of collaboration between the two countries in the areas of ‘green’ resource-saving and recycling technologies. He also hopes our partners will also be interested in the Skolkovo research on new materials and 3D printing.

Space technologies and ‘big data’ present other important directions, with Skolkovo actively cooperating with several multinational corporations, including the Boeing Company and Airbus AE.

Speaking further about international cooperation in science, Mr. Dvorkovich spoke of the effective interaction between the Foundation and the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, with MIT, Munich University of Technology, universities of Singapore and other countries. “We would be delighted to cooperate more actively with Peruvian universities,” said the Chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation.

Talking about the concrete steps that could be taken as soon as this autumn,  Arcady Dvorkovich mentioned the 'Soft-landing’ program, inviting Peruvian start-ups to take part. According to Mr. Dvorkovich, Skolkovo will be happy to create cooperation roadmaps in the fields of energy, agricultural and space technologies as well as in the development of new materials. Yet another project which could be of mutual interest to both countries is the Smart City project, which includes a wide range of technologies, from IT to transport and environmental protection.

In the words of Mr. Dvorkovich, the development of roadmaps would take no more than 3 months. Start-ups, industrial companies and universities could come together to cooperate and participate in these projects.

Jaime Pomareda, the Peruvian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that “the Skolkovo project represents a successful synthesis of scientific research and the creation of innovative technology”. Mr. Pomareda also said that in his opinion, “cooperation with Skolkovo has a great future”.
