Gary is Founder of Cinepapaya, a technology company providing a platform for online and mobile ticketing sales for movies, concerts, theatre plays and events in emerging markets. In 2013, Gary delivered the winning pitch for Cinepapaya at the APEC INTEL Challenge in Taiwan competing with hardware and software startups from 23 Asia Pacific countries, as well as the LAB4 Pacific Alliance Innovation Forum in Chile. Cinepapaya is present in 28 countries around the world.
Gary is Founder of Holosens a company that has incubated and advised Startups such as CinePapaya, KaraokeSmart, Nutrishake Andino, EasyMarket, Hoope, Joinnus, Reclutec, Empresabio, KunFood, amongst others; which have received research and development grants from FINCyT-FIDECOM, seed capital from accelerators like Telefonica’s Wayra, 500 Startups from Silicon Valley, Startup Chile, Startup Brazil, Startup Mexico, Startup Peru and angel investors.
Gary is a serial entrepreneur with a passion for technology; having received the President of Peru Prize in 2010 for demonstrated merits in matters of innovation, vision of the future, social responsibility and adoption of association strategies in its business models. Gary is Ambassador in Peru for Global Entrepreneurship Week and Singularity University, as well as Delegate of Startup Nations, which congregates Startup ecosystem leaders of more than 40 countries. He received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola in Peru.
Gary is a PhD Candidate and Master in International Political Economy from Tsukuba University in Japan, graduate of the Masters of Governability from Universidad San Martin de Porres in Peru, Master in Science of Economics from Florida State University and Bachelor in Science of Business Administration and Economics from the University of West Florida in the United States. Gary has been an economic consultant for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) specialized in the formulation and evaluation of industrial investment projects.
Gary is Director and Founder of Singularity University’s Global Impact Competition for Peru, sponsored by the Science and Technology Program of the Government of Peru (CONCYTEC-FONDECYT) and the Multi-Lateral Investment Fund of the Inter-American Development Bank (FOMIN-IADB), with the objective to identify Peruvian innovators with the skills, talent and passion to solve grand challenges and positively impact the lives of millions of people around the world through the use of cutting edge technologies. The winner of the competition is awarded a confirmed spot at Singularity University’s Graduate Studies Program with all travel expenses, tuition, room & board covered by a grant.
Gary was selected as Endeavor Entrepreneur at the Endeavor International Selection Panel in San Francisco in August of 2015. For his achievements in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Gary was named Ambassador of Peru Brand in June 2016 by the Government of Peru. In 2016, Gary completed the Scaling Entrepreneurial Ventures Program at Harvard Business School and the Innovation and Growth Program at Stanford Graduate School of Business.
