I consider myself a serial entrepreneur working with numerous technology startup companies as an angel, advisor, mentor and executive. I am currently volunteering my time and experience as an international mentor for numerous programs within Civilian Research and Development Foundation programs framework. Over last several years I've mentored more than 400 start ups and technology entrepreneurs across the world including those from Russia. Most companies I've mentored are participants and winners of CRDF Global international contests and I have a significant experience of preparing entrepreneurs and their teams for competitions, venture capital funding and business development. Elevator pitches, business plans, presentations, networking, defining value proposition, fundraising strategies, etc. are most common topics I cover with my mentees. Additionally, I collaborate with CRDF on annual assignments as a Lead Mentor for selected projects that receive CRDF R&D and business development grants. Several of these projects have achieved impressive success with my contribution, as reflected at my LinkedIn profile, recommendations section. Additionally, I participate as an angel and advisor for several Skolkovo IT and Bio Cluster resident companies, I'm an expert and judge with Russian Venture Corporation Fund, mentor with Skoltech/MIT University and represent Russian technology businesses at the G20 YES Summit.
My core focus and competence is in Life Sciences, Medical Devices, New Materials, Clean Tech and IT. I'm a medical doctor, yet my executive education includes numerous programs such as the Center for Creative Leadership and Kauffman Foundation FastTrac New Ventures program, HAAS School of Business and Intel Education course in technology Entrepreneurship, Microsoft “Start-in-Garage” entrepreneurship course and others. My business career started in 2006, when with capital and R&D support from Microsoft and Intel, I have developed the first accurate, fast and affordable wireless tongue-controlled mouse (Gravitonus ACCS) that provides hands-free capability to individuals who have difficulty using the computer with their hands. I've presented the ACCS technology to Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates who was impressed by the technology innovations created by Gravitonus, and initiated a close collaboration with my company. To this date successful US-based Gravitonus Inc. is the world's leading manufacturer of the customized Ergonomic Workstations line fully tailored to user's body.
I feel that I want to give back and help the eco-system that supported me throughout my journey. In 2010 I joined non-profit CRDF Global as volunteering mentor, coaching hundreds of young science-oriented entrepreneurs from Russia, Africa, Central Asia, helping them start businesses. I assist Skolkovo, Skoltech, Russian Venture Corporation as life-sciences expert, participate in numerous conferences at NIH, World Bank, and since 2011 I promote Russian innovations as an official member of the G20 Summit young entrepreneur delegation. And I love it! How else would I score a hand-shake meeting with Mexican President Felipe Calderon?!
Usually, I assist founders to establish international operations, commercialize their offering/innovation in the U.S. market, negotiate VC financings and prepare for exit. I help to open doors, define right strategy and plan for success.
I'm ready to work with any projects within BioMed cluster. I'm ready to work with hardware projects from IT, Energy, and Nuclear clusters that target international marketplace. I prefer to work with post-seed companies, but in select cases, I'll be glad to assist pre-seed projects.
