The Skolkovo Foundation road show will take place in Bavaria on October 4, 2011. The foundation, represented by the leaders of its clusters, will present its innovative projects to some of Germany’s leading scientists and researchers.
A number of important meetings will take place during this visit:
This meeting of the German scientific elite with the Foundation’s head V. Vekselberg and representatives of the Skolkovo Foundation’s clusters (IT, the biomedicine and space clusters, and the energy efficiency and nuclear technologies clusters) will have a favorable influence on the development of joint activity by Russia and Germany.
As a result of the road show Skolkovo plans to establish cooperation with the country’s best teachers and students, major German companies with unique technologies and developments, and also venture funds which might become joint investors in start-ups.
Background information:
The Skolkovo Foundation for Developing a Center for Research and Commercializing New Technologies is a non-profit-making organization created on the initiative of Dmitry Medvedev, President of the Russian Federation, in September 2010. The aim of the foundation is to mobilize Russia’s resources in the field of contemporary applied research and to create a favorable environment for undertaking scientific developments in five priority areas of technological development: power engineering and energy efficiency, space, biomedicine, and nuclear and computer technologies. The project includes setting up the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), research institutes, a business incubator, a technology transfer and commercialization center, representative offices of foreign companies and R&D centers, housing and social infrastructure, and also subsequently disseminating an efficient system of operating to other regions of Russia engaged in innovation. The Skolkovo innovation center’s activities are regulated by a special law which provides its residents with special economic conditions.
